I am fixing an old Marlin Model 80 for my grandfather that is not ejecting shells. After being shot this thing hold the spent case still in the bolt not "kicking" it out. And no it is not the ammunition. What do you think needs to be done? I was thinking just get a new style one piece extractor for it, two new plungers, and two new springs so that way I don't have to mess with anything else just Change it all and take the guess work out. But my question is could it be anything else?

If it's what I think the hole that the shell goes in is out of shape and there is a reamer type tool that midway sells that can be spun in the chamber and clear things up.

What I'm saying is the spent shell is held in the extracter still when I pull the bolt back and I have to stick my finger in there to flick it out of the hold of the extracters on the bolt

Have you DETAILED IT?

Good cleaning might be the problem OR check the chamber for a "peening" of the edge (might show a "drag mark" on side of case. Then you need a tool that wipes the "peen" form the chamber wall.

The "peen" forms from too much "dry-firing" on a empty chamber.
