This is more of a statment to marlin 60s i just desided to break down my rifle and give it a deep clean. ive placed over 5 years prob aprox. 6000 rounds of all kinds of 22lr ammo from high end to low. And i actually felt bad like ive neglected the rifle. To my surprise their was small chunks of burnt powder caked on so bad i had to grab a poly pick to scrape it off.The reason i desided to clean it was it was fte about 1 out of every 30 and figured it was time. I guess im writting this to make the comment that ive only cleaned 1 other firearm that caked up and still firing almost normal was a waser 10 ak. Im sure their is other rifles and makes that will take a licking and keep ticking but dang even my wife said eww that dont look good. Now i just hope when i go shoot it i didnt screw it up by cleaning it and have more probs kinda like a seasoned cast iron skillet lol.
 
My Marlin 60SS had about 2000 rounds thru it before I cleaned it. It was filthy inside but functioned perfectly and was super accurate. My Marlin 60SS is my fav .22 long rifle I own.
 
Funny, despite being fully rebuilt, mine starts having problems after around 500 rounds...generally light strikes and inconsistent feeding.
 
ive cleaned it bf but used qtips witch are awsome for gun cleaning and powder blast spray. This was just the first time i took it apart for a deep cleaning. i have just always sprayed it out with powder blast and oiled it when it dried seamed to be all it needed.

Iclean mine after 500 rounds,not that it needs it, but because I feel guilty.I enjoy shooting it,they are a great firearm. I have a 39A, 2 10-22,a 77-22 and many others, The 60 is my go to gun!:) Cliff
 
i have 1 model 60 and 1 rem 10/22 with #2 10/22 talo itac in transit via ups from buds as i speak and when i go rabbit or squrrel hutting i have always grabed my marlin just mainly its the only 22 with a scope. now days the 22lr is just about the only cost affective ammo to shoot. I also have a 22lr conversion kit for my ar15 but i dont really use it to much.
