Marlin model 60

I have a marlin model 60 with less than 300 rounds through it. I shot a hundred rounds and took it apart and cleaned it no problem. Shot one hundred more rounds through it took it apart and cleaned it. Had some trouble getting it back together and might have pushed to hard and the hammer spring came off and jammed. Took it to a gunsmith he fixed it and cost me 25$. Took it to the range the next day shot about 55 rounds and the trigger locked up again. What should I do?
 
I'd say take it back to the gunsmith. Seems odd that he worked on it and then it locked up within 55 rounds. Also, it could be that whatever you did that required you to take it to him caused a problem he did not pick up on the first time around. Unless the rifle has sentimental value, I wouldn't put too much cash into it, cause you can get these things very cheap.

I hear ya. I will not spend any more money on it. But it is very accurate and I rely like it. Should I have picked a Ruger 10/22?
 
Marlin model 60 is probably one of the best .22 rifles ever produced. I had one (first gun) until I lost it in a house fire. I put I don't know how many 1,000s through it. Only problem I ever had was needed to replace extractor and fp spring after maybe 10,000 rounds. By the way, don't clean it so often.
 
I took it back to my gunsmith and he got it running again no charge. He thinks I should send it back to marlin. He says the stock isn't routed deep enough and the trigger is just barley touching the part that releases the hammer.
