I think the Model 3000 was made and branded for Big 5 stores. It is just like a Marlin 30AS. All of the Marlin and Glenfield 30-30 lever actions are essentially a model 336. The differences are cosmetic only. They are fine rifles, as are all 336's made before 2010. It should look like this:
Pros: Its an awesome rifle. Its accurate. Its easy to mount a scope onto. Its easy to take apart and clean. The 30-30 cartridge works very well. It has always been and will continue to be a great medium sized game cartridge out to 150 yards or so.
Cons: None come to mind. Parts for this rifle are still widely available. 30-30 ammo is found everywhere. Its only limitations come from the cartridge, which is good out to possibly 200 yards on game with the right ammo.
I'm pretty sure that the cheaper Marlins (Model 3000, Glenfield variants) came only with walnut-finished, birch or beechwood stocks-if that's important to you.
