marlin mod 60 problem

I took the rifle apart to clean and now I can't get the bolt back in properly. I have tried every possible way and it will not slide back all the way now. Not back far enough to chamber a round. With just the bolt and springs in the rifle, it still doesn't slide back, like it is bottoming out. It looks so simple I don't get what the problem could be.

I have one that I took apart to clean and once mine did the same thing. There was a clip with a hook on mine that I had put on upside down. Check that hopefully that will help out

For the record, I had the guide rod in backwards. I need to study stuff a bit more before I take it apart. I went to the Marlin site and download a parts schematic. Also my mod 60has two springs? as opposed to one as shown in the diagram.
