The longer model has two bands which encircle the forend and magazine tube. Obviously, they must exert some tension on the barrel. :

Would this shorter version have better accuracy potential, w/o that constriction, all else being equal?:

To be honest, the porting doesn't really appeal to me, but the 'cleaner' look of the gun does. Are there any advantages of one over the other, other than the extra round on tap in the 18.5" gun?
