Marlin/L,C,Smith = Baikal?

I just saw a press release at my local gun shop that said the guns are "Italian crafted". It also had a price list that had MSRP's over $1,000 for the listed models.

Too bad Marlin is soiling the L.C.Smith name by giving it to a spaghetti gun
Spaghetti guns...hmmm, let's see...Fabbri, Piotti, Fausti, Zoli, Beretta, Perazzi, Benelli, just to name a few. Many models sought by the wealthy, unaffordable to the common man, all over the world. All crap,of course.

L C Smith is a name associated with the best of American gunmaking. It is an icon, sought after by discerning shooters who wish to own the best of American guns.

I don't care if it is made by Fabri, it still is a Spaghhetti gun and they should call it something else. :D

Lighten up. It's not like Geoff said he hated spaghetti. :p

I guess you're right

I just meant that it speaks volumes for the sad state of US firearms manufacturing when a foreign gunmaker is hired to resurrect an "American icon..." However my reaction would be kudos to the Italians for taking on the task, and not a bad choice since they are, taking the industry as a whole, the premier shotgun makers in the world these days

I like spaghetti!!!

I will not dispute the quality of Italian guns. But taking a basic Boxlock gun and naming it after the L.C. is just wrong.

L.C. Smith (Hunter Arms) built Boxlocks, and called them Fultons after the town where they were made. They were solid guns, but not Sidelocks that are forever associated with the L.C.Smith name.

Kind of like Remington calling that dog of a gun Peerless 300 Ideal the 332 to try to associate it with the Remington Model 32. The Remington 32 was one of the finest firearms ever produced in this country, the Peerless,300.Ideal ,332 is not worthy of mention in the same paragraph.

I agree the state of the U.S, arms industry is pitiful. But we do have outfits like Galazan and Kolar that are as good as anything from Val Trompia. (Did I spell that right?)

Time for me to stumble off my soapbox before I hurt myself. :p
