Marlin Guide Gun sights

I have a Marlin .45-70 Guide Gun, but the factory sights leave much to be desired. I've considered putting on an Ashley aperture sight, but their front and rear sights actually use a higher sight line then the factory sights. Even the factory sights require you to lift your cheek off the stock.

What I really want is a quality aperture sight that can be mounted low enough to allow for a good cheek weld when firing the rifle. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hawkeye, a Lyman receiver sight will adjust down fairly low but you will need a lower front sight as well. I really think that just about any peep will be as high or higher than the factory rear. George

Hawk,
I have the AE Ghostring sites on my 1895G, and I've not experienced the lifting of the cheek off the comb ever. I'm using the .230 rear ap and the .400 high x .100 wide front blade on the original Marlin ramp. No problems except that I hit what I aim at everytime now! Your concerns, IMO, are unfounded. They are far superior to the stock sights.

Cheers,
Mike
