Bought a Marlin Camp 9 and received a 4 round magazine with it. Constantly reloading after firing four shots at the range would be a real pain. However, stamped on the side of the magazine is '12'. Therefore, I'm guessing the magazine was designed to hold 12 rounds.

Problem is I've taken the magazine apart and can't figure out how to convert the magazine back to holding 12 rounds. My guess is the conversion is something simple or maybe just grinding down some hidden 'stop' mechanism.
Has anybody ever made this conversion? If so, how did you do it?

Of course I could just buy a new clip but hate to discard this perfectly good magazine.
 
Dimples

WHat, 4 rounds? not even 10? are there any like dimples in the sheet metal of the body of the mag? I have seen that on some to limit the travel of the follower, or maybe it stops the rounds from going any deeper. I don't have a ban mag. close at hand. The only ways I can think of is either a follower with extensions on it to keep it from going deeper in the mag, or the dimples in the side. Those could be removed, theoretically. Might look ugly afterwards. If the follower is modified, maybe it would not be unsightly to modify. But I had 10 round mags for a SIg, and they actually made a plastic solid base that was attached to a shortened metal mag body. No way to modify that one. Beware, they probably thought of making it as diffucult as possible to restore full cap. Otherwise, look for aftermarket hicaps now that they are cheap. I think that gun uses S&W mags? probably not expensive for aftermarket models.
 
this is a rare mag made for hunting. the 4rd clip + 1 in the chamber equals five. keep this clip like it is and buy another. once again theyre rare i wouldnt cut it up.
 
s&w hicaps

I am seeing S&W hicaps in SGN for as little as 12$. If that is what it uses. THey are maybe not factory mags, maybe triple k or something(ad did not specify) but I would spend that much. Maybe haunt a gun show in the near future and check out the magazine dealers.
