Marlin band screw help wanted

Howdy. I am pretty new to TFL and this is my first post in the Smithy forum. My Marlin 336 in .30-30 (two years old, just under 100 rounds through it) has broken its rear band screw twice. Both times, the screw sheared in half along a diagonal line in the screw's shank. What is going on here? I may send it back to the factory but would really rather not. I could of course buy another screw, but since the same thing happened twice, I have to wonder if there is not a larger problem here. Any help would be appreciated.

NewGuy that's a new one. In 24 years of gunsmithng I don't recall ever hearing of this happening. It could be that the holes are misaligned or that the groove in the bbl is not deep enough. I'm just guessing, trying to think of things that might put the screw in a bind. I'd send it back to the factory or at least contact them and get their input on it. George
