Marlin 882 Question

I was eyeballing my 882 and got to wondering if there would be any benefit to TiG-ing a stud to the receiver of an 882 .22WMR to attach the receiver to the stock? There's not a lot of room to do it, but I come to wonder if the receiver could be more firmly attached to the stock (instead of the single mount screw placed mid-stock) so the barrel could be floated. Either the front trigger guard screw or the rear magazine plate screw could be swapped out with a machine screw and snugged up to that drilled and tapped stud. I know the accuracy is limited as much by ammo availability as anything else, but does anyone think it would be a worthwhile thing to tinker with?
