Alright, just went to the range and made a startling discovery. A $250.00 Marlin 882SSV outshot a $750.00+ 10/22. They were owned and operated by the same guy. He was using Federal 30gr. Classic FMJ for practice, and was putting them through a ragged hole @50 yards. He claims to tighten that up using the premium ammo in 30 gr JHP. The only thing the Marlin had was a 3-9X40mm scope, (same on ruger), and he said he had a gunsmith he would not reveal do the trigger for him. I was allowed to try both and again, as terrible a shot as I am, the Marlin outshot the Ruger. Yes the Ruger shot impressive groups, but the Marlin walked the dog on it. I may just give up on building a Ruger and go get me one of these Marlins. I'll use the extra $500.00 to buy tons of ammo to practice with. By the way, anybody know a smith who can work the trigger on a Marlin?
