A new 39AS is running $350 give or take $20. An expensive .22 but understandable given it's all steel construction, foraged receiver, and 19th century design. Used in good condition would run 50% of new, rusted subtract another 5 to 20%. That said, old Marlin lever actions are collectable. If yours is prewar or some rare variant then it would be worth more. -- Kernel
Most 39As that I've seen still go for $275 on up depending upon condition. Only rusted up hulks go for anything under $175 around this part of the USA.
Dang! Old rusted rifles sell for 80% of NIB in Missouri? I know where I'm going to unload some beaters. Seriously, I paid $255 for my used 39AS back in October but it was perfect and came with a pretty nice soft case. Guns are like cars, provided they're not rare & collectable, once they show even a little rust the price drops like a box of rocks. -- Kernel
I picked up a 39a "Mountie" Model a couple of years ago. The shop was asking $225.00. I went over to their used book counter and looked it up. Worth around $275.00 then. I offered him $200.00, he took it. I think my wife loves it more than I do. (If that's possible) I think that particular model was discontinued in 1972. Mine was made in 1966
