I love marlin rifles,I have 3 model 60's with the tubular magazine but do the ones that have the clips tend to have a problem with jamming? I see a few at bud's guns and Im about to buy it right now but I just wanted to make sure since I had a ruger .22 with a clip and it was jamming right out of the box when I bought it at wal mart a few years ago.:barf:

Thanks for any help!

My daughter got a Marlin 795 for Christmas in 2009. It would jam on the next to last round quite frequently. When I looked at the mag, it looked like the lips were not very parallel. I called Marlin, and they sent a new one, no charge. The new one looked better, and we have had no problems since we switched to it.

From this, I conclude that a bad mag can make a Marlin jam, and that Marlin is willing to make sure that you have a good magazine to use.

I have a marlin 795 and now it runs trouble free. At first it was a nightmare but after some experimentation I got it running flawlessly. Some people have theirs running perfectly out of the box though. So if yours is giving you any trouble you have to completely clean it out when you get it and put absolutely NO oil on it. Use something like hoppe's 9 solvent and that has a light natural lubricity to it. Putting even a small amount of oil led to frequent jams( atleast one every 'clip'). Then I also stopped using remengton gold ammo which are known to be crap. After those two major changes I now clean the rifle every 1000 rounds or so, and have zero jamming issues.

I have two 795s about 10 years old and never a FTF or FTE. Newer ones seem to have more issues but I love mine so much that I gave my 10/22 to my dog's vet in the hpoe he would give me better pricing. Seems to have worked out for me and him. I also bought extra mags directly form Marlin. Would like to get two more so visitors can all shot their own guns.

I also own a Marlin 60 with tubular magazine, since the Ruger 10/22 I had jammed on those rotary magazines ALL THE TIME. My Ithaca Model 72, my Remington Nylon 66, and my Marlin 60C never jam. For all the Ruger's supposed superiority, feed systems isn't one of them .....

I have a Marlin 925 bolt action and a 795 semi auto. Both are "clip magazine" fed and I have had zero feeding issues. The 795 jammed a bit when I first got it, but I didn't clean it before shooting it. It was filthy and after a good cleaning jamming is pretty rare. Just went shooting this morning and 300 rounds through the 795 produced 0 jams.

The 795 is one of the best deals on a rifle of any kind...light, precise, and inexpensive with a $25 rebate from Marlin.

I love mine, shoot the heck out of it :)

Only issue so far has been the 25-round Shooter's Ridge mags...but if you put a little piece of foam tape in the magwell or on the mag
to make the mag push backwards slightly, it works just fine :)

I also highly suggest the Marlin Adjustable Rear Target sight...some 795's come with 'em,
some don't, but its VERY worth a call to Marlin for one for only $10.
