Marlin 1984 ss rear sight loose

If the sight resides in a female barrel dovetail, it should be easily tapped out towards the loading port side (removed), then reiinstalled from the same side after either/all:

1) Raising a few dimples in the dovetail floor with a centerpunch/hammer, to create friction and/or a tighter fit.

2) Slightly swedge down (aka: beat) both the front & rear lip of the female dovetail to rstore some of it's chasteness. ;) I accomplish this via solidly supporting the barrel under the dovetail area, then firmly holding a flat steel drift on the spot when I give the drift a single heavy thwack with a heavy hammer.

3) Cut a small shim from an aluminum beverage can, about half the area of the bottom of the male sight dovetail - and keep it under the dovetail/sight as it's re-installed.
