Hey All,
i have a Marlin 1897 Texan Lever Action in 22LR rifle. It's basically a Marlin 39A, but it has an octagonal barrel and it has a gold bead front sight (not hooded).
i love this gun. it is a sweet shooting 22. my other 22 rifle is a CZ 452 Mannlicher stocked gun. For some reason, I shoot the Marlin better. At 100 yards my groups are noticeably tighter with the Marlin. The Marlin has a wonderful trigger and it's a really well made gun.
I wanted to use my Marlin .22 for hunting. the gun can be broken into two pieces for packing and for cleaning. I was wondering if it would be wise for me to take apart my gun and store it in my pack (in a padded silicon sleeve or something to protect it from moisture and bumps) disassembled.
Is there any disadvantage to disassembling and reassembling a Marlin 39A 22 rifle on a regular basis? Do I have to be extra careful not to damage the gun while it's broken down?
Thanks!
