Marlin 1895 report

I recently bought a new Marlin 1895 SBL in 45-70. This one of the new ones; I had to wait 4 months after the gun shop ordered it to receive it. I am very very happy with it! I took it out for the first time on Saturday, and here are the results at 100 yards:DSCN1570.JPG
Load was as follows: The bullet was cast by myself using an Accurate 460-415V. The alloy was 50/50 COWW/Pure+2% tin. Sized to .4595 and powder coated. These were then loaded into once fired Remington cases, CCI 200 primers added, and 36 grains of IMR 4198.

Here is the picture of the Marlin. Scope is a Leupold Shotgun 1-4x20

Looks like you got a good gun and ammo combination. My 1895 I purchased years ago before Remington acquired Marlin and am happy with it. I have found either H4198 or IMR4198 to be my go to powders for this gun using my own cast lead bullets. Enjoy.

I had the 45-70 and the 444 at one time, both great rifles and both very accurate. Both way over-powered for the deer and small black bear around here.

I was a Marlin lever action collector at one time but had to sell all 40 of them due to a divorce :(
