I know I posted a post about a similar topic a few days ago comparing the chipmunk and the Marlin, but now that your opinions on the chipmunk have basically ruled it out. Anyway, let me clear some things up. First of all, this gun would be for me, not my children-I am 15 years old, 5' 3". I want either the savage or the Marlin for two reasons. First-I need a gun that fires .22 CB shorts, as they will fire subsonically, so I won't disturb my neighbors. Second-I want a short, easy to handle/carry gun that I can fit into a backpack (I know the barrel will be sticking out) so I can go on hunting trips with my father. The savage looks like it has a very long stock (in the picture I saw) so I'm sure as I grow, i will be able to fit into it better, but is 3" smaller than the Marlin, and it doesn't have checkering (that I noticed) But, the Savage has a 3" longer barrel which in theory should mean its more accurate. Anyway...have any of you had experience with the Savage Mark 1-Gy? How is it? I want a gun that will be three things: dependable, durable, and consistently accurate. Any input is appreciated.
