March for Liberty

Here's your chance, folks.

If you've ever had the hankering to grab a microphone and tell the federal government what you think of it, your opportunity is about to present itself (within reason, of course, as we don't want to scare "the children" or offend the ladies in the crowd).

October 7, 2000. Washington, DC. Lincoln Memorial.

I read the Declaration of Indepence across the reflecting pool last year. It was cathartic.

Come down and meet with a bunch of like-minded folks, and take your turn at the microphone, if you are so inclined.

Also, some of you have probably heard of a patriotic band called PokerFace. They are going to play a couple of sets for us during the day as well. That alone is worth the cost of admission (which is absolutely nothing, as we've paid all the associated costs already).

It's gonna be a hoot! Be there!

i made a lot of noise about why we should attend the MFl last year...

Who is going to stand in DC this year?

Personally, I can't do it. Vacation time this year is gone and it's kind of short notice anyway. Maybe all the groups that get together for rallies need to begin planning for one great big old rally next spring? Most everyone would have a fresh batch of time off and could make arrangements to be there, especially if you're talking about taking a trip that involves a lot of distance. Travel arrangements are much cheaper and more people can be made aware of the get together. Maybe with more time, some of the local groups can rent buses. I know several gun groups tried that for the AIMM this year, but weren't able to fill them in so short a time.

Most gun owners have such a hard time making it to these things because they have jobs (unlike certain full-time, paid activists) and families they work to support. Anything that makes it easier to get to an event will help a lot.

Maybe Northwest Orient Airlines will be willing to give discounted airfair, like they did for the MMM.

The second year of the March for Liberty is gaining momentum!
This is a permitted event with the National Park Service (public
gathering permit, dated: 02/22/00 #00-0460) for a PRO-Constitution
rally supported by American patriots from across the nation. This
event is scheduled on Saturday, October 7, 2000 staged at the
Lincoln Memorial by the steps (reflecting pool) from 9AM-6PM.

The Town Crier (A March for Liberty publication)

Hear Ye! Here Ye!
Come all ye patriots to March for Liberty!
On Saturday, October 7, in the year of our Lord, 2000

In accordance with the First Amendment to the Constitution of the
United States of America, we shall "peaceably assemble" and
"petition the government for a redress of grievances".

Said grievances are many, and diverse in nature. The federal
government has:

* Restricted the right of the People to freely exercise their
own Religion;

* Infringed upon Their right to Keep and Bear Arms;

* Taken from them their Property with neither just compensation
nor due process of law;

* Established a system of tyranny, in which the People fear the
government's Agents;

And, in Numerous other ways, systematically ignored the
Constitution, and the Limitations placed upon it therein.

It is the considered Opinion of the people that our current
government seeks not to protect and defend our Rights, as is its
proper function, but rather to bring us into a condition of
subservience to the State. History has shown time and time again
the Fate that awaits people who stand idly by as their governments
gather more and more Power unto themselves. Their freedoms are
forfeit as the State becomes the Master and the people the
servants. It was never intended to be so!

Search your hearts. Know ye the truth? I believe it so.

We come to a crossroads, Friends. It is not overblown to state
that the fate of the Country hands in the balance. Our children
and our children's children will live in chains, unless we wrest
control of our lives back from the Federal Beast.

As one voice, we must stand and say "No More!" WE are the masters
of the Government, not the Government master over us. OUR Rights
are not up for discussion, nor subject to a Vote.

Come, let us join together as Countrymen. And let us not grow
weary in the Days, Weeks, Months, and even Years ahead as we
strive to bring the Government back into its proper disposition.

For history is a prudent Teacher, and her lessons should not be
ignored.

twice the bang for your air fare buck!
the GRPC is September 29 thru Oct 1

The 15th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) is expected to be huge as gun owners from across the country join
together with gun rights leaders
on September 29, 30 & October 1, 2000 at the Crystal City Marriott in Arlington, Virginia. This year’s FREE conference will
highlight lessons learned from
recent court and legislative battles and provide gun owners with necessary skills to defend themselves against hysterical
anti-gun foes in the media, classrooms,
courtrooms and legislative entities. http://www.saf.org/pub/rkba/news/GRPC2000.htm

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>A couple of weeks ago I received a note about a pro-Constitution rally that will take place in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 7. Called the March for Liberty, it heralds patriots across the
country to come and peaceably assemble to petition the government for redress of grievances.

The organizers of this rally are exercising one of our First Amendment rights: to peaceably assemble to petition the government. Obviously, the framers of our Constitution understood
the nature of people and government.

The fundamental rights from which the Founding Fathers drew our country's blueprint for liberty were specifically outlined for the purpose of protecting individual rights and
shielding us from tyranny. That the day would actually arrive when people would have to petition the government for their constitutional rights should probably not be surprising.

The Town Crier, a March for Liberty publication, charges:

"The federal government has restricted the right of the people to freely exercise their own religion; infringed upon their right to keep and bear arms; taken from
them their property with neither just compensation nor due process of law; established a system of tyranny in which the people fear the government's agents; and,
in numerous other ways, systematically ignored the Constitution, and the limitations placed upon it therein."

I would never have believed it, but here we are. The federal government has become cancerous, metastasizing throughout the country and endangering the very life of liberty.

What's truly amazing is the apathy many Americans display regarding this governmental trampling of our fundamental rights. This indifference is selling out not just our heritage, but
the very heart of our country.

We are at a point where every single one of our constitutional rights - our inalienable rights - are not only under attack, but are under an attack supported by masses of detrimentally
unaware people believing in their good intentions.

Those encouraged to believe that free speech is OK as long as it doesn't offend anyone, that arms should be restricted because someone might get hurt, and that cordoning off millions
of acres of land in the interest of the environment are inadvertently (or maybe intentionally) bolstering the government to be not the tool of the people but the scythe of the state.

So what's the average American to do?

I guess that would all depend on whether you want to determine the course of your own life, or if you would rather have someone else's version of life imposed upon you.

Will anyone in Washington pay attention to this March for Liberty?

Probably not. But the rest of America would be wise to think of it as a modern version of Paul Revere's ride. Only this time it's not the British who are coming. It's the tyrants.[/quote]
