Manufacturing date of used Smith & Wesson?

I recently aquired a Smith & Wesson model 65-5 with a 3 inch barrel, with a serial number that looks like BSTXXXX. Does anyone know when it was "born"?

Not much help

I have a book but it only goes up to about the late 70's as a historical book.
This may sound like a copout, but if no one else has the info on here, you can go to the S&W website and get their customer service number. They will tell you what year it was made with no prob. If it was an antique collectable, they can sell you a factory letter that gives alot more specific info. Lots cheaper than Colt does.

It was made most likely in 1994...possibly in '95. The year 1994 began with prefix BRF. in 1993 it was BPK. I don't have any info after '94.
