Mann Accuracy Device

Just won a Mann Accuracy Device (paid too much but I wanted it) on the CMP Acution Site.

Its a Remington 700 action for a Kart 5.56 barrel. This is one of the Device's the Army used to test the accuracy of their 5.56 ammo, super tight chamber, excellent barrel, good crown. 19.5 inch barrel, 1.125 dia. at the muzzle.

An example, for a test round they used a 52 Grn Sierra BTHP, 25 grns of 3031, federal Cases, CCI 450 primers and were getting .19 to .31 Mean Radius at 100 yards. With the SS109 ball they were getting .31 to .61.

The puppy will shoot..........now what to do with it? I'm thinking of throwing it in a Stock and using it for F-Class or maybe just build a machine rest to test reloads for my other 223s.

I'll post better pictures when it gets here.

If it were me, I'd put it in a stock and shoot the heck out of it. But then again I don't own a bolt action .223 yet.

Riverhead is just east of me and I wish I bought it. I qualified in the NYPD on the Remington 700BDL .223, which was their sniper rifle. That gun was a tack driver and a pleasure to shoot. Stick the best stock you can afford on that puppy and enjoy.

Looks nice, congratulations. What will you do for a recoil lug ? Not that it would need much of one with that heavy of a barrel in .223

That rifle is pretty near stock, never needed to do nothing to it. Started carrying it in 1978 and both of us have been retired since '94. It still shoots.

I haven't got it yet. The auction just closed last night. Still, its heavy enough I shouldn't have to worry about it.

I'll see when I get it and start putting something together.

I've been retired since '85 and older than you. It's not fair you'll have two of'um, but who ever said life's fair. Just lovely!
