I had a few problems out of the box. A warranty center fixed in inside of sven days and man does that thing shoot! I really like the 110 grain and 125 grain .357's for personal protection. It is a great companion on the deer lease as it rides well and does not impede my climbing a tree stand.

Accurate and reliable not to mention good looking. Hey Mike Irwin, you out there? :D

Post Agreement?

I love my Smith 629, but I haven't been following the politics of Smith's gunmaking lately. What's a "post agreement" model 60? Result of a lawsuit? Legislation? Anybody?

man I am sorry to have brought this up. In the nutshell while Smith was under the ownership of the British frim Tompkins PLC and headed up by Ed Schultz, they signed an onerous agreement with HUD and in return they were to get first dibs on all Fed. Government jobs. Pull up Mike Irwin's profile and get the story.

Then they were bought out by a group that was made up of old Smith and Wesson ownership and Saf-T-Hammer corp. The agreement is dormant with the Bush Admin. and they are working methodically to have it overturned while also working to void some of the laws and rules put forth by non-friendly states and municipalities.

I avoided them while they were a part of Tompkins. I am supporting them now as I am any American made product--------Ruger, Dan Wesson, Kahr, etc.

The Beretta Shotgun and CZ 75 are the last foreign-made weapons I will ever own. After what Germany has done in the wake of the Iraqui threat, no Sig or HK will ever be in my gun vault nor would anything from France or Russia.

The rest of the world save Israel and England via their actions and UN votes have told us our 3,300 victims don't mean squat and we can collectively go to hades. That said, I buy Amercian when possible.

Please tell us the rest of the story. What is Smith and Wesson doing to have the agreement overturned?

Waving the American flag is very nice, but I imagine Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer wave it all the time.

I've long enjoyed my Model 60 that I bought back in 1989 and it's a great handgun. However if I had to buy another one these days it would be a used one, due to S&W's sellout agreement with the klinton regime...

New Model 60

After doing our homework on finding just the right gun for my girlfriend's first firearm, we settled on the M60 with the 3" barrel. It had just the right combination of weight, reliability, ruggedness, size, and power. We had to special order it because of the 3" barrel. When it came in I could not believe how nice the fit and finish was and holy cow, the trigger. The trigger on that thing puts all of my stuff to shame. Well, last night I got it out to the range for the first time. With .38 special LSWC ammo, I shot better than anything else in my stable. Crud, now I'm compelled to get trigger jobs on all my guns. Anyway, back to the topic, I am very pleased with that Smith and Wesson M60. For such a small piece, it packs a real wallop as a serious shootin iron.

ps. It was really nice to see my girlfriend's pride in ownership last night when I brought her the shot up target. For a converted anti she has come a long way. (Thank you, thank you very much) Oh, and thanks California, for passing oppressive laws to inspire even fence sitters to exercise their constitutional rights (while they still can).
