Man Charged With Goading Woman to Suicide
Cops: He Gave Her Gun, Told Her to 'Quit Talking'
May 10, 2000

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) -- A man has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly putting a handgun in front of a suicidal woman and goading her into pulling the trigger.

Cherie L. Morgan, 35, picked up the .32-caliber semiautomatic gun offered by Joseph Poole and fatally shot herself in the head, Palm Beach County sheriff's officials said.

Authorities said that moments before Morgan fired the gun April 22, Poole told her: "If you are going to do it, then do it, girl. Quit talking about it."

Anonymous call to police

Officials said Poole told them that he, Morgan and three friends had spent the night drinking and smoking crack cocaine. Morgan, who had two previous suicide attempts, began talking about killing herself.

Poole then put the gun on a table in front of Morgan and dared her to do it, authorities said. After Morgan shot herself, Poole made an anonymous call to 911, and deputies found the dead woman.

Poole, 29, was being held without bail Tuesday.

Morgan picked the gun up and pulled the trigger herself.

Reprehensible? Absolutely. Poole needs a severe ass-kicking, no doubt... but he didn't kill her. Were I on the GJ, I'd vote for no true bill.

Then I'd wait for the bastard outside the courthouse.

A man was convicted for goading his wife to suicide last summer in Clinton County Illinois. IIRC, the man and wife were having problems over money, an arguement ensued. She stated she was going to shoot herself. The husband flippantly told her where to shoot herself to do a good job of it.

The woman left the house to run some errands and returned several hours later and shot herself. It was a pretty long trial but he was convicted. Don't think he got any prison time though.

Uh...maybe we could introduce him to Hillary?

One reason to vote in the next Presidential election.

It's the Supreme Court, Stupid!

One must always take suicide threats seriously. Slime who goad suicidal folks need to be stomped into the emergency room, and jail time is not too harsh a punishment.

It's as evil as raping a woman passed out drunk.
