Making a Ruger #3 into a Ruger #1 ???

I have a Ruger #3 project gun in the works. I would like to change the stocks out with some Ruger #1 wood. The forend seems to be a no brainer, but will a #1 butt stock install as a simple bolt-on or will the grip need to be altered for the less fancy #3 drop lever?

TIA...

Leave the #3 as it is. The Ruger No.3's are worth more than the No. 1's.

That is because production numbers of the 3's are less than the 1's and the 3's are no longer made.

Look up selling price's on Guns International.

It is the same receiver, so they should fit. Ruger offered the #3 as a lower-priced alternative to the #1. Plain stocks vs fancier checkered stocks, different lever, different forend hangers, probably a few other differences that escape me right now. But the inlets on the stocks are the same

The stock will fit.
A friend has a "No 2" with No 1 wood on No 3 metal.

The Highwall type lever came too close to the pistol grip for comfort, so he cut off the tail to give a Sharps style lever.

Thanks everyone for your replies...

Wow! I'd really like to see a picture of how that came out.
