I bought an 1847 Walker at a gun auction, and need help finding the manufacturers name. It has a nine inch barrel, Model USMR and a battle scene on the cylinder, cal. .44 black powder only, made in Italy under the loading lever,US 1847 on the right side above the wedge screw. On the bottom, ahead of the trigger guard, are two stars within a circle stamps,PN, and then the numbers 11040, then it looks to me like an octagon with a U in the middle, but I can't be sure.. can't wait to kill a hog with this monster. Question number two, in Lonesome Dove, didn't Gus carry his Walker in a belt holster?

The answer to question two is yes, he carried it in what looked like a slim jim type holster set up as a right handed cross-draw rig.

He didn't rent pigs :D
