"Make A Wish Foundation" Caves In To Constitution Haters

Last night, (Aug. 9), on CBS Radio News, I heard that the "Make A Wish Foundation," that grants final wishes to kids who are dying of childhood diseases, announced that they will no longer grant the wish of a dying child, if that wish is for a hunting trip, or has anything to do with shooting and guns.

The spokesman stated that his new policy had nothing to do with being pressured by the anti-hunting/animal rights groups or the anti-gun whackos (my word), but because hunting and guns are "NOT SAFE." Uh huh.

For many years, I have donated to the MAWF, but I will never again donate even a dime to them. I am writing a letter to the organization stating same.

The communistnazis strike again!

FWIW. J.B.

Let's see now, it's dangerous for terminally ill kids to go shooting. This is usually a thing that is done when the end is getting close so even if it was dangerous their logic would still be flawed. It's a shame that some kid won't get the chance to have some fun just because of some dumbass propagandist politico crap. These people should be ashamed of themselves.

No offense, but I don't understand their reporting this now. I could have sworn this already occurred at least a couple of years ago ... and, the answer they gave is bogus. It was definitely pressure from PETA-types.

Per our friend Rob on TFL, there is another group that is similar, but they don't have their heads buried in their backsides. Check out 'Wish Upon a Star' ( http://www.wishuponastar.org/ ). Even though they're in CA, my understanding is that they don't have this idiotic restriction.

Live and let live. Regards from AZ

That stinks!
Let's ALL send them an email telling them we are withdrawing our support if they want to turn this into a political situation.
Anyone have any contact information for them?

Oh, well. I guess the proceeds from the Make-A-Wish match we hold every year in San Antonio, Texas will have to go to some other cause. That's if we can find another one that will accept money from such a non-PC sport such as IPSC.

Here's a link with their mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address so you may express any feelings you might have about their policy to them.

I'd like to weigh in on this...
This "story" is actually quite old.
When it first came out, I had an official
with "Make a Wish" on my radio program.
Believe me, I was ready to pounce.

Her explaination was fairly reasonable
given the tenor of the times. She said it
was not an anti-gun thing, rather it was
a liability issue. "Make a Wish" has backed
off on several request areas they, or their
attornies, deem "risky"....skydiving,
mountain climbing..the kinds of things they
could be sued for if something went wrong.
She did say they refer hunting requests to
Safari Club Intl.

Not an excuse. I don't like it at all.
But I thought the explaination seemed a
little less anti gun and a little more CYA
oriented.

This is actually old news. It was reported a while back on GOAL web page:

Scroll down to : "Sportsmen Dry Up Make-A-Wishing Well"

Sad thing is, many sport shooting hunting organizations were faithful supporters of these idiots. Now they won't get a dime from any informed RKBA supported. For the kids. Of course, their stupidity only hurts the kids, but then they wouldn't be PC if they could understand this obvious contradiction.

If they, the make a wish people, are sincere about not caving why are they stopping all kinds of shooting events? Lets say it was because a safari is too dangerous couldn't they just tone it down a little. Its just sad.

curious

I guess I'll have to use my usual donations to fund local signups in the NRA or something instead.
