Makarov , trigger pull

Does any one know if the long double action trigger pull can be shortened? As I use my German one as my primary carry, I find the long pull is too long when split-seconds counts. I have handled Maks from several countries and they all exhibit this condition. Thanks in advance for any answers.

I'll second what Zundfolge said. I perfomed all of the steps as described in the text, and it dramitically improved the DA trigger. Just make sure you don't modify any of the edges on the sear or hammer or you can screw up the action. The DA trigger is as smooth as any of my other pistols and better than some after the mods.

You can smooth it up a good bit just by doing a lot of DA firing, or dry firing. As was said it won't shorten the pull, but it will smooth up a good bit.

I would second the notion of doing a lot of DA shooting. The Mak was designed as a military pistol, not a slick action, short trigger wunder gun. Besides, most of the people shot with this gun got it in the back of the head at close range!!! ;) ;) That might explain why the sights aren't better. This bit of information comes from a gent I know that is an ex- anti terrorist operative for the Brits.
