Hey all! I just completed my PM military rig:

This is my Bulgarian Makarov PM, USSR black leather service belt, holster, lanyard, cleaning rod, spare magazine in the holster, and an authentic Soviet ushanka winter hat. I really like it! Great for the cold weather.

It's nice to have this rig complete. If you've got a military pistol with a military style rig, I'd love to see it.

Take care all!

Very cool rig!

I have a commercial Russian Makarov with the leather holster it came with, but no belt. I have had it for ages. It still shoots as well as it did 25 or more years ago. I believe that I will wear out before it does.

I have also had the same or very similar hat for ages. Those Russians know their stuff regarding cold weather gear. I can't wear it until the temperatures get down into the teens, or I get too hot.

A couple of years ago I had a student who was Russian. She admired my hat when I wore it one day. IIRC, she said something to the effect that "ushanka" means "hat", and she said that the correct terminology for mine was "ushanka" with a word or two added to indicate its military origin.

Thanks for the great pic! :)

Thank you tallball! We are expecting a horrible ice storm very soon here in Kansas. An ushanka hat is a very handy thing to have in such a situation! It got down to -8 F a couple weeks ago, before my ushanka came in the mail from Russia. Sure wish I had it then!!

That is a great setup! Love the hat.

I have a 1961 East German Makarov, but the only thing I ever bought to go along with it were extra magazines. An authentic holster would be a nice addition.

Nice setup.

I remember buying a hat like that in red square back in 1995.
I think it cost me $2. I gave it to a friend. I should have bought two. If I'd have brought a stack of ones, I could have had a crap load of cool cold war stuff.

I like your setup very much. As a student of history I'm a sucker for matching milsurp gear.

I'm a bit era confused myself but I like Russian firearms as well. I dearly miss my M91/30 and my Tokarev.
