Makarov peculiarities

I recently bought matching unissued Bulg Maks for the wife and myself. I noticed two weird things:
1) I can't screw the grip screw all the way in with the Pearce grips. If I do, the mag won't go in. So I have to loosen the screw a bit. Is this normal?
2) One of the Maks partially spits out the mag after firing the last shot, instead of staying in the mag well and locking the slide open. What's up with that?

Other than that, I couldn't be more pleased with the little commie guns. They group very well, although they both shoot about 2-3" high at 15 yards. Unless someone has a better suggestion, I guess I'll have to file the rear sight down a tad.

As J.R. would say, "GOOD NIGHT, NOW!!!"

Mylhouse, I have a russian hi-cap with pearce grips. The screw also was a little long with those grips. I filed off a tad on the screw, now it works great. I also have an after market mag that falls out. The mag fits kinda sloppy and the catch on the back side of the mag doesn't stick out as far as on the factory mag. The recoil knocks it loose.

One more thing, on the sight I had a wider and taller front sight dovetailed in my slide. I then filed the sight to point of aim. Works good.

Are you shooting the 109 gr bullet or the 90 or 95 gr. The lighter bullets shoot lower for me, actually right to point of aim in my gun. The heavier bullets shoot higher for me. I also found that I was unknowingly holding the slide release down with my thumb when shooting the gun at first, and the slide failed to lock on the last shot. And some of the aftermarket grips (Makawrap) can keep the slide release from comming all the way down. It might need a slight bit of trimming on some guns.

Thanks for the info. I'm using the mags issued with the gun and Russian TCW 109 gr ammo.
Railroader, did you have someone make that front sight for you or is there a replacement part available?
