Makarov grip question

I posted before that I had my local FFL order me a Bulgarian Mak. It's in pretty nice overall shape but the red Bakelite grips leave a little to be desired. I was thinking about switching to the Fab Defense grips and was wondering if anyone had experience with these. I'm looking into getting them NOT because of the mag release but because of the extended beaver tail. I usually have issue with getting slide bite from small handguns. I plan to shoot it asap to see for sure if it'll bite me but if it doesn't I'll probably try and get some really nice wood grips.

As a side note, who ever suggested "Mineral Spirits" for cleaning Cosmoline off of a Mak, you are a god sent sir!

Suspect you'll be looking for cu$tom made wood grips. Makarov's aren't exactly mainstream iron. Kind of surprised there is an aftermarket grip at all.
This guy does wood grip though. Not stupid expensive either. Isn't in the States though. http://www.marschalgrips.com/
