I managed to track down a new Bulgarian military Mak for $134.95 plus tax in Pa, if anyone is interested I think the guy has 7 left in stock, he is based near to Pittsburgh. Let me know if you want details, he may have sold out by now so be quick.
I am not due to travel over from the UK until this Saturday, so the wife has done the decent thing and bought early to avoid disappointment. She likes the gun so much she keeps calling it "hers".
For the price, it makes pretty much any other handgun look stupid (except possibly a used Model 10 or a Bersa Thunder).
I also like the story attached to the gun, apparently a US entrepeneur (you have so many) discovered a warehouse in Bulgaria with 50,000 Maks in deep storage, all packed away in Cosmoline and crated up. I wonder just what they were intended for
The guy bought the lot and then sold them on in sub-lots to dealers. The only question is, he claims they were 1960's manufacture, but according to one of the experts in Makarov.com, there were no Bulgie military Maks produced before the early 70's, go figure.
Our second choice was a USPc in 9mm, we just saved $550 at Pennsylvania prices. The main 9x18M ammo dealer just also happens to be near Pittsburgh as well. FMJ's for $55 per 500 and hollowpoints for $60 per 500, happy, happy, happy.
