Makarov Disassembly/Trigger Job instructions

Fellow Shooters,

I recently had to give up my beloved G36 :( , so I am having to use my Mak as a primary Concealed Carry gun. Carrying my HP is pretty much out of the question. The one bright side is that once we get these supposed checks from the govt, I can get me a new Glock 30 to replace the 36. :)

Anyway.... Here I stand dremel tool in hand searching for instructions for a home trigger job. I vaguely remember seeing it posted either here or on another forum, but I can't remember where. I checked Makarov.com , but I couldn't find anything on it in the FAQ's.

Any help would be appreciated.

Disassemble and thoroughly degrease the trigger/sear/hammer assembly. Reassemble and dry-fire a couple of hundred times.

Dissassemble and grease the wear points of the trigger/sear/hammer with molybdenum disulfide grease and then reassemble.

You'll be surprised at the difference.

JohnKSa,

I know this isn't your post, so you may not even see this. Nevertheless, here goes. I understand that the Makarov design, specifically the firing pin, makes "dry-firing" unproblematic. But, isn't "a couple hundred times" a bit much...even for a Mak? Just asking.

Those pins come out so easily it's pitiful.

Remove the slide and twist the safety upwards past the fire position.

Now pull the safety lever out the side of the slide. Look in the back of the slide to see how the firing pin is oriented.

Now shake the pin out the back of the slide, reassemble without the pin and dry fire away.

Or, you could just cut a thick piece of leather so that it fits snugly in the back of the slide to cushion the hammer fall. I usually use this method since it's the easiest.

Or you could use a snap cap.

Enjoy your dryfiring!
