Can anyone please describe or point me to a description of disassembly a Makarov?

I tried Makarov.com, but not much help there, except to tell me to buy some book.

thanks.

simple, same as the walther ppks.pull down the triger guard.while holding the triger guard down push the slide back and off the frame.thats all there is too it.the barrel is fixed.

Just pull the trigger guard down and to one side, letting it rest against the frame (there's notches on the trigger guard for this purpose).

Pull the slide all the way to the rear, then lift the rear of the slide up and off the frame rails.

Ease the slide forward and off the end of the barrel.

Putting the slide back on is the reverse, but getting the rear of the slide to go back on the frame rails can be tricky some times.

Whaaa??..you meant just basic field stripping??

Holy smokes man, part of the ritual of owning guns and shooting them is cleaning you weapons. I baby my pistols and have just as much fun cleaning them as I do shooting....well almost as much fun.:D

A Dusty weapon is worse than a dusty bible!!

Sorry man, just had to rag on you a bit. :D The military made me a clean freak when it comes to my guns.

Yeah Redleg, I hear you, when I had just a few guns, I was a fanatic, once I got past 100, and sometimes take 20 to the range or desert, I slowed down a bit.

I always cleaned the Mak as best I could with out stripping, now I'll do a complete job.
thanks for the info.

Tabing,

Hundred guns? Holy crap!

I've stripped and reassembled a few Maks, and the only difficult part is the trigger transfer bar, or what ever they call it. It has a pin that inserts in the trigger, and a swinging link that pushes up the sear to release the hammer.

I don't know how in hell I got them in right, but it just takes a little fooling around. Basically, the swing link has to be held in the upright position, as it nestles in the frame between the sear and hammer.

You can't hurt a Mak, so take the damn thing apart, and play Rubic's cube till your hearts content! :D

On the other hand, the only critical area seems to be the firing pin and it's channel, which should be kept reasonably clean to prevent slam fires. That's easy enough to clean with spray cleaner, so you may never need to strip any farther than the slide.

It's still fun to strip a Mak all the way down, and look at the scant handful of parts, wondering how in hell it works so well! :D

Patience

Just be a little patient when you're getting the slide back on the frame. It's tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it it's easy as pie.
