Makarov 9x18 vs .38

A specific comparison on ammo is needed, but I'd also like more input on your favorite rounds in these calibers.

Which is a better defense round:

Federal Hydra-Shok 110 grn .38 Hollow Point

Federal/American Eagle 95 grn 9x18 FMJ

CCI Blazer 90 grn 9x18 Hollow Point

The Mak in question is a Bulgarian 8+1 with two magazines, and the .38 is a M642 S&W 5 shot Airweight (with 3 extra speedloaders).

I know neither of these is a recommended defense setup, but it is for a backup/vehicle gun, not concealed carry. I am trying to decide between these two because I want something in the car that won't be too much for my wife to handle and I don't want to be out too much money if it is stolen.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions...
