Maintenance on Night Sights

Have any of you guys just replaced the Tritium vials in your night sights instead of swapping out the entire set of sights for new?

I have a number of 3rd Gen Smiths with ancient Novak night sights. Replacing 'em with new would be really expensive. I found a vendor that sells Tritium vials. It would appear to be pretty easy to replace the old vials. Just drill 'em out and insert new with some crazy glue . . .

If you were to use a drill to remove them from the sights it would release the tritium (radioactive)
The drill vibrations would also startle the spider living under your bench causing him to bite you
Then you would have to live your life as a crime fighter
Meaning no nights or weekends off
I'm just say'n

An alternative is if you know the company that made the sights you can often send them in and they'll relamp them for you. You only have to send in the slide and it's usually pretty inexpensive.
