Maintance of your everyday CCW

On my CCW (SIG P220 in fall & winter, Beretta 92 in spring & summer) I field strip, inspect and relube my gun every week. I shoot my carry ammo out every other month as a reliability check. Any thing else I should be doing?

Relubing your gun on a regular basis is very important for a carry piece. Come summertime, you may find you need to re-oil more frequently than that if you carry outside quite a bit. The warmer the temperature, the more the oil will dissapate.

You will save some $$ if you only shoot out the top round or two that get cycled and recycled as you load and unload your gun. I know, a lot of people don't chamber a round more than once. I don't have a problem with it, but the same round goes into the chamber first. The other rounds all remain unchambered. I shoot out my top round every couple of weeks. This cycles things fairly regularly without being wasteful.
