Mags for Ruger P94

I've got an older P94 in 40 s&w, my question is, do I have to buy mags that they sy should go in that gun, or is any Ruger 40 s&w mag ok? I've asked a couple of fellas locally, but they were clueless. Any help is appriciated.

I bought a spare for my P944. It was packaged for the P90. Works excellent. Can't tell the difference between it and the originals. Holding them side to side, they're identical, all indents, holes shapes and followers.

Correction: I said P90, should have said P91, I think. Whatever the other model .40 cal is/was. Threw the packaging away awhile back.

All Ruger P-series pistols of the same caliber can use the same magazines.

Thus, the P85, P89, P93, P94, and P95, can all use the same 9 mm magazines, preban or postban.

The P91 and P944 can all use the same .40 magazines, preban or postban. (11 rounds vs 10 rounds, but heck, it's still all in principle!)

The P90 and P97 magazines are different, in that the P90 magazines hold 7, and the P97 magazines hold 8, but from what I've seen, either magazine can be used in either pistol.

Ruger P91 mag for P94/944

mauserman420,

The Ruger p91 mag will fit and work in the P944. Here is a direct link to the webpage for the advertisement from CDNN, listing the P91 factory 11 round mag:

BTW, for those of you that are 9mm owners of the P94, this same mag works in this model also, holding 15 rounds. There is a slight difference in the width of the front mag feedlip opening, as compared to the P94 9mm mag. This didn't seem to make any difference for me, as it worked okay with no feed problems.
