magpul BAD lever issue?

hey everyone. for the holiday my gun buddy got me some ar gadgets and such, among them the aforementioned lever. i was leery at first but after getting used to manipulating it i quite enjoy it.

the issue is, about half the time after i finish a magazine the bolt does not lock back. sometimes when i pay more careful attention to the trigger press it will function correctly, and when my bud's petite girlfriend shoots it (or himself for that matter) they haven't had the problem.

i'm a pretty big guy at 6'3 or so and 235 pounds, and i do have a pair of ol' canned hams for fists, so i'm wondering if maybe the problem is just that im knicking the lever with my finger after the last round?

has anybody else had this issue? should i maybe try tightening the lever to the bolt release? anything? bueller?

It may be a technique issue, how about doing a one round test. Load a couple mags with a single round chamber and fire it see what happens. Mags with a weak follower can increase the likelihood of this issue coming up. Also pay careful attention to your trigger finger placement during the tests and see what happens. Good luck.

By the way I have huge paws and haven't had any issues with my RR AR that has a bad lever on it.

The weight of the lever obviously means that the force needed to lift the bolt catch is greater.

It's possibly a weak magazine spring, or the ammo is underpowered, and the bolt doesn't travel or hang far enough back for the catch to operate.

Another option might be to use a lighter buffer. That will give the bolt more hang time in the buffer tube, allowing the catch to rise up.
