Magpul 20 round Pmag Issue

So...As the title states, I am having issues with Magpul 20 round Pmag's locking my action open on the last round. I have two of them, one virtually new, and one that is lightly used.

It's very strange because any 30 round Pmag I have, old, new, beat up, always lock the action open.

Amunition does not solve the problem. Have the same issue with 55gr handloads, 69 gr handloads, and 55 Gr XM193 ball.

Crazy thing is, they will lock open when I rack the charging handle. Just not in the act of firing.

The rifle is a Smith and Wesson M&P 15, not the sport version, that has proven utterly reliable. It has malfunctioned only once in many thousands of rounds.

Anyone have ideas what is going on????

I have the same issues form time to time with 30rd Pmags in my DR200. Maybe 10-20% of the time the bolt will close on an empty mag. Havent really traced it to a single mag, seems to happen with all 6 that I have.
I suspect it has to do with the rounded shape of the follower not getting puchase on the hold open tab.

There is no significant side to side play with either 20 rounder. THey feel just like the thirty round versions.

The only cause I can think of, is the follower, or the spring pressure.

separate the upper from the lower. insert the mag, see if the catch is making good contact with the follower. I have not had this problem with my pmags. who's lower parts are you using?
