magnum research revolvers?

Hello!
I am new to the forum, and I would like to know if any of you
own or know about the 45/70 Magnum Research revolvers, good, bad ,great and why. Would appreciate any input as I am thinking about getting one.

I've fired a friend's BFR .45-70 on several occasions. It's a REALLY BIG revolver! Very heavy (of course, it has to be, given what it's shooting!), very accurate and surprisingly controllable with standard-pressure loads (e.g. Remington 405gr. SP). On the other hand, with Garrett Hammerheads in the cylinder, it's the Beast From Hell to control! I also don't think it would long survive a diet of such powerful ammunition.

I guess it depends what you want it for. To have the "biggest and baddest" revolver on the block ("Don't tell me about your .475 Linebaugh - THIS is a REAL MAN'S revolver!"), it's great. For practical field use (e.g. hunting or silhouette shooting), I think it's just too big and heavy for comfort. I'd rather go with a Ruger Blackhawk or Redhawk in one or other version.

A buddy took his BFG .45-70 revolver deer hunting this fall using reloads with 300 grain bullets. I've fired that load from the revolver and found it easy to handle. The last time I talked to him he had seen no deer.

I like the BFG but can't afford one.
