Magnum Research BFR in .444 Marlin

Does anyone have any experience with this gun in this particular chambering? I darn near bought the BFR in 45-70 on Saturday but then a friend put the idea in my head about the .444 Marlin and that I could shoot 5 different types of ammo through it, these include:

.44 Russian
.44 Special
.44 Magnum
.445 Super Magnum
and ofcourse the .444 Marlin

Is this correct? That this gun could handle all of those? That would be pretty nice to be able to shoot any of those in one gun. Anyways, I didnt pick up the BFR in 45-70 because now I"m thinking about the .444 Marlin. Its also seems to me that this caliber would be a bit different too, not something alot of folks, atleast around here have.

There appear to be slight differences in dimensions such as rim thickness, case diameter and rim diameter. I can't say whether these differences are sufficient to cause problems. What does the manufacturer say?

.

there is a significant difference in case dimensions. The .44 is a straight walled case along with the 445 and others while the .444 marlin is a tappered case. At the base the .44 is .457 and the .444 is .470. I really dont think it would be a good idea to try it. Dont have any experience though so you might want to contact magnum research and ask them.

I honestly wasnt really planning to shoot other calibers in it anyways ( I dont even shoot the 45 Colts in my .454 even though you can do it ) I like it for the fact that atleast around here the .444 Marlin is different. I like to be different:D I hear that the .444 is a heck of a woods cartridge too, would love to have for deer hunting. I also have this thing where I'd love to have a lever gun and revolver in the same caliber ie 45-70 or .444 Marlin. I somehow get the feeling that I"ll end up with a BFR in both 45-70 and .444 Marlin:)
