Magnum Research 45 Colt

Have a chance to get a 5 Shot BFR in 45 Colt. Seems to be out of production because their site only has the 45/410. It's a 6.5" barrel and in excellent condition at $699. Any thoughts?

I'm going to take the opposite tack, and say I think it is a waste of your money, UNLESS you are planning on loading the .45 Colt to absolutely stupid pressure levels, OR plan to get the gun rechambered.

It is a fine gun, all the ones I have seen are very well made, but its a 5 shot, .45 COLT.

In a larger, more powerful round, (such as the .454) it makes good sense, in a .45 Colt, it doesn't, to me.

The Ruger Blackhawk handles anything you should do with a .45 Colt, and holds 6.

I would jump on the deal if it were in a different caliber, one that the BFR is the best choice for. In .45 Colt? not so much....

Just my opinion, and worth what you paid for it. :)

That's why I said "if you want one".... I think a BFR in 45 Colt is sort of a waste of the revolvers potential unless you are going to load it very hot. Then, why not look for something larger and more powerful? BFR's are better made than Rugers overall.

On the Ruger form a very nice BFR in 44 MAG can be bought for $600 .
if I did not have one I would buy it .
