Magazine rattles...uh oh

Last night, as I was shooting my CZ-75, I noticed that the magazine rattled after about 7 or 8 rounds were loaded into it. Maybe I haven't noticed it before--maybe it's supposed to do that--but I would appreciate any feedback.

The magazine is a 10-round factory mag. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Its very very common for CZ's to have magazine rattles. Its not a worry except when carrying for me. If you carry fully loaded mags they rattle less but still do some....
Shoot well

Factory standard [15-rd.] mags do it, too.

Sometimes pushing down on the top round after fully loading will move the other rounds enough to take the rattle out...sometimes not.

Pretty common for double-stack mags, IMO.

Double stack mags tend to do this when the rounds don't stagger correctly. One round may end up off kilter inside and leave a pocket for another round to rattle around in. i have never had this hurt reliablity, but it is anoying. I find that several good smacks of the side of the mag against my palm will seat the rounds in their proper place -- no more rattle. Hope this helps.

Aha! So it's double-stack mags that do this. I use mostly revolvers and single-stacks. It's all clear now.

Thanks, guys.

My Sig 229 13round magazines have a bad case of the rattles also. When they are fully loaded and inserted in the gun, its not as bad, but still there. I just carry a thing of Tic-Tacs:p

I had a CZ-83 with pre-ban magazines that only rattled when they were fully loaded. I never had a stoppage of any kind with this little auto, never.

I have some Hi Power mags that also rattle. I don't carry it for defense and it stays in the safe for the wife so it's a non issue for me.

I vaguely rememeber seeing a post somewhere about curing magazine rattles by gently squeezing them in a vise and periodically testing them until you have no rattling.

Good Shooting

Please don't anybody do this! Magazines are expensive enough as it is. Don't go having to buy new ones because you crushed your old ones in a vise like an idiot. Especially a high dollar preban hicap. Just live with the rattle...it doesn't hurt a thing.

Don't sweat it..........

My P11's double-stack mag rattled, unless I carefully "tamped" it in the palm of my hand. Must be a characteristic of double-stack mags in general.

Especially a high dollar preban hicap.

Last I saw you could get BHP mags in the $20-$25 dollar range. They are no where near the price of Glock pre ban mags, which coincidentally don't have that problem. Go figure.

Oh..and it was a suggestion hoping that someone would offer up some experience with curing magazine rattles. I leave mine as is and they are fine when fully loaded. I never carry mags half loaded and if they are half loaded I could care less about magazine rattles because more than likely I've already sent seven rounds downrange making a heck of a lot more noise!
