Magazine question... Novak vs. Chip McCormick

Hello all,
I bought a 1911 recently from a reputable shop here in Northern AZ.

When I did I asked for a second magazine (only came with one) and was going to buy a Novak (what it came with) and the owner of the shop said he has had issues with them and recommended some Chip McCormick magazines. He says he has had better luck with them.

So anyways I got 2 of the Chip McCormicks and went on my way... But I wonder something, was I just a suspect of his profit margin? They do not carry Novaks so of course he needs to sell me something else which leads me to my questions...

What magazines are better?

I have several novaks and have not had a single issue with them. I do not put 1000's of rounds downrange per year either. I have been told by some avid 1911 shooters that they had some of the novaks "split" on them. That being said, I would still buy them if I needs extra mags.

Novack Mags

Use them all the time in my 1911 S&W Scandium auto. Never had them fail me one time. They work fine, no problems.

I use Chip McCormicks as well and they have been 100% reliable. You can buy more expensive mags, but you can't buy any that are more reliable.

You do good with the McCormicks.

I have had jams with several of McCormick's mags in my Gunsite CCO and never a jam with any of my Wilson's. I now will use only Wilson's.

I've used Chip McCormick mags for decades with zero issues. Most regard them as some of the very best 1911 mags if not the very best of the bunch. Wilsons on the other hand have rather wimpy springs and won't feed worth beans in my compact 1911. Novaks I haven't used all that much but haven't had an issue yet.

I use Chip McCormick, Wilson Combat, Ed Brown and Kimber ProTac magazines routinely and they all function flawlessly.

I prefer the Ed Brown as it seats in my mag well a little better.
