magazine getting too hot

I have a PT111 that i have shot rapidly until i noticed the plastic peice on the magazine that pushes the cartridge was melted a bit is this normal. I have stopped rapid fire until i know for sure

Is it getting hot? Maybe it is getting deformed a little from use. This piece is called a "follower" and sometimes the surface will get a little bit of a gouged appearance from the cartridges digging in to it and then being drug across it by the slide.
