Magazine for an old Browning Hi Power

I have just purchased a mid 1960's browning hi power in 9mm. It came with one 13 shot mag and I think I will add another just because :)

I was looking on the internet for one of these mags and came accross the following: http://www.gungarage.com/browning.htm

I have never seen this Triple K mag before, but can you really get a 30 shot mag for these?? Anyone who has had experience using these mags and is willing to share their insight would be appreciated. I will also likely look at the Richmond gun show July 8-9, so other recommendations would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Snake

They are experts in the Hi-Power and sell many fine things for it too.

SnakeLover,
My BHP was made in 1962 and I have several 13 round mags and 1 15 round mag....but I don't have any experience with the 30 round mags.
If you purchase one please let us know how you like using it.
Take care. :)

SnakeLover, I'd steer clear of any magazine triple K made. Really poor quality, cheap, chintzy material and finish. As far as your questions about a 30 rounder, yes, they exist and protrude quite a bit.

My recommendation would be to hold out for a factory 13 rounder. Other mags that are good for the BHP are the stainless Pachmayrs made by Mec-Gar. You can try Alpha trading for factory BHP 13 rd mags at $69 a pop or CDNN for 17 rd South African mags that protrude, I think they're $25 apiece. Good luck, excellent chioce in pistols I might add.

I had 3 triple k 13 rounders. I sent them back to where I bought them. They wouldn't feed right. Try www.cdnninvestments.com they have 17 round south african mags. They work real good. I have a promag and an usa mag that work so so. Wouldn't buy them again. Good luck.

Don't waste your money on Triple junK. Bought single stack 1911 mags and had problems with them. But then again alot of people don't like USA mags and I do.

There aren't many sure things. I have Triple K 13 round magazines, and they work fine, both with FMJ and hollow points. Ramlines don't work, NATO mags are great.

Thanks for all the feedback. Appears most of the posts are against the TripleK, so I'll probably keep that in mind as I continue to search. I also checked out the CDNN site and priced them there too.

I checked Cylinder and Slides web page but they didn't have any mags listed. I took down their phone number and will call them. Thanks for the lead Trevor.

I think I'll keep my eyes open at the shows and hope to find an original mag. I've also got a few dealers in the area I can have keep an eye open for them.

P-35, I think I got a great gun too. Though I'm sure the rest of the pistols are talking now about the new guy, especially since he's not from the same family. All my other pistols are Colts!! :)

I bought two of the Mec Gar 13 round silver colored (Stainless? Nickel?) mags and have never been sorry. I also had bad luck with Triple K mags some years back.

The dull finish Canadian magazines have always been good. They ust have the hole in the bottom, without the little button thingy. As an accident of tolerences, they happen to hold 14 rounds. Not cheap but very good. Look for a faintly stamped "JI" (For John Inglis) on the floor plate.

Best regards,
RR

I wanted to say thanks again and let you know I was able to pick up a used Browning 13 round mag from a dealer back in South Dakota for a reasonable price. I've loaded and emptied it 5 times with no problems, using 3 different ammos, so am happy with my purchase.

I also found this on the www.usa-magazines.com web sight tonight:
"All magazines over 10-Round Capacity are "PROHIBITED" from import or sale in the United States and Canada for civilian use. "

Are they trying to panic people into buying? I don't get it.
