Magazine Compatibility

I was just wondering if a magazine from, say, a .223 caliber Bushmaster manufactured AR-15 would fit in a Colt manufactured AR-15 of the same caliber and vica versa.

Is this typical of most magazines? Will a .45 ACP S&W mag fit in a .45 Glock? Is there an easy way to tell without actually buying the products and looking (other than asking around on message boards)?

AR-15 mags should fit any other AR they are Universal. S&W .45 mags are single stack and metal and will not fit in the double stacked Glock frame (Glock mag is polymer and double stacked 13rds pre ban 10rds post. Most mags are gun specific,but some interchange. Some are obvious such as the S&W into the Glock scenario. and some are not, like the taurus Pt92 looks like a beretta but the mag cut is in a differn't position and will not lock in.I am afraid you will just have to educate yourself and ask around.
