Magazine Capacity when Storing?

I have a USP 9mm, and two 10-round magazines for it. I've been told that when storing mags loaded, it's best to load them to one fewer round than capacity allows, to prevent stress on the spring. I'm pretty sure that there are higher-capacity magazines for this pistol, and I was wondering whether it would be okay to load them to ten, if the spring is long enough to hold more, but the mag is structured to limit it.

You can safely load as many rounds as the mag was designed for while storing them. Springs will not be affected by being compressed for any given amount of time. Using the spring as intended is what wears springs out, i.e. shooting your gun.
Just be sure you are not over compressing the spring and with the capacity being a 10 rndr.....You shouldnt be doing that.
You are always safe leaving one round out....Thats how I store my mags in my safe.....
Shoot well

I must agree with Eric, The springs where designed to take the compression, it does not hurt the springs if you fill the mag's to full capacity.
I have always kept my mag's loaded to full capacity.
I have a couple guns placed at key location throughout the house. The mags are all loaded to capacity, They have been setting for many years getting fired every six months or so and after many years the mag's are still in perfect condition.

Good Shooten
