Mag Safety and FEG-PJK 9HP

I have had this ol' FEG PJK 9HP for years but didn't know that removing the mag safety was desireable until I started hangin' out at gun boards (fnhipower and here). Well never got around to it until today.

I stopped at the local gunstore (Rangemaster Gunworks) and gave them some brass that I had lyin' around (as I don't reload) and asked about a HiPower magazine for the FEG, he didn't think he had one then spotted a standard capacity Browning mag (which I bought, now I have two 13 rounders). Well we got to talking and I told him I read the prcedure for the removal of the mag safety. HE said if I left the gun (I had it with me to make sure the mag would function) he'd do it for me overnight - at no cost. I said cool! and we talked a little more. I asked if maybe I could watch how the mag safety was removed and he let me watch while he did it.

Removing the mag safety was definiately worth the cost! Trigger pull is down from 12 lbs to about 6 lbs, and once the slack is off it has a nice crisp break! It also drops the empty mags free when the mag release is pushed! Got it home and dry fired it a few times, worked great! Went outside and put a couple of rnds through it and All Was Good! Very Cool! :D

Wow, your trigger was @ 12lbs before? What an improvement! No wonder you're excited.

My FEG pulls at around 4-5lbs, and mags drop free, with safety in place. So I have never had the desire to remove the mag safety. Maybe mine is an older model, before attorneys started setting trigger pull.
