Mag Pouch too Obvious?

OK... I have to admit.. being new to concealed carry (I've had my ccp for one week) I focused entirely on weapon and holster. To prepare for going out I had been wearing my Taurus 745 in my Don Hume IWB holster around the house for weeks. I was really happy with concealment. You'd never know I was carrying.

Realizing I should have another mag available when I carry, I obrtained a double mag pouch. WOW! I never realized how big of a BULGE it would make under my hanging shirt.

In my opinion, the bulky mag pouch instantly indicates that I may be carrying! This is something I hadn't thought about....

How do you handle this issue? Comments

I remember when I bought one of those double handcuff carriers and when I put it on my belt it looked like a fanny pack.

I just ordered a single mag pouch, IWB, from Hazel Leather for my CZ P01.

Besides this option, the slimmest profile mag pouch I have used is from Fobus. It hugs the body well due to the paddle design.

I respectfullly disagree! Folks wear so many devices at their belt these days I do not believe that a mag pouch would necessarily identify its wearer as a CCW carrier.

Among the "stuff" I have seen carried at the belt are cell phones, a variety of multi tools, medepacs (for carrying necessary medical stuff), wallets, fanny pacs, and so on. Just to carry a well conceived mag carrier does not scream gun.

Personally, I carry a single mag IWB and it works well for me.

Typically, only gun nuts realize you are carrying due to buldges....unless you wear skin tight shirts.
Frankly, if I'm covering it....and someone sees it.....fine. People need to be a little more exposed to the idea. However, I know there are times that you do NOT want anyone to see.

As for the mag, I carry an empty mag in a Galco Ankle Safe. This works so long as I am wearing long pants. I know it is not the best place for an extra mag....but it is better than leaving it home. My pockets are already full of other stuff (wallet, cell phone, keys, tater tots for later, etc) As for IWB mag pouch, I already (often times) carry my gun IWB; therefore, things are already snug in there.

have you checked out cell phone holsters? It seems that a cell phone/multitool sheath could blend in quite nicely. And if they see a phone sheath they may be more likely to overlook any other small bulges..

I don't wear my magazine carrier unless I am in a competition or I know I am going to the part of the town I have to be "extra" prepared. 99% of the time I just have the magazine inside my CC piece.

IMHO, 10 rounds in your sidearm should be plenty for most SD scenarios.
Remember, you are not a law-enforcer, just a law-abiding citizen who desires a legal mean for " self " (including your family members) defense.:D

extra mag

i carry one for my 45 in a large benchmade nylon belt holster it carries horizontal on my belt and fits perfect you would never know its there . granted its only one mag but in my head thats more than enough. you could get two if that makes you "comfortable"
